Meet Benson: Professional Tail-Wagger and Best Friend in Training

If you are looking for a little dog with a big heart, 18-month-old, 10-pound schnorkie Benson is ready to report for duty. This cheerful schnauzer-yorkie mix brings sunshine wherever he goes, whether he is greeting friends, exploring the yard, or showing off his best “Did someone say treat?” face.

Benson believes life is better with company. He loves all humans and dogs, and once he chooses his person, he follows them like the sweetest little shadow.  We think he likes cats too, but his greetings can be a bit enthusiastic, so feline friends would need patience, space, and slow introductions.  He is also great around all ages of kids; except he might nibble their toes and toys.

This handsome boy is still puppy-like and always up for fun. Walks, toys, gentle games, and time in a fenced backyard to play and sniff around all make Benson’s day. Because he is still learning what is and is not meant for chewing, he needs to be monitored, but he happily channels that puppy energy into chew toys and bones. He is also working on training, including not play nipping when he gets excited, so patient guidance and consistency will help him shine.

Benson has wonderful house manners already in place: he is leash trained, house trained, up to date on vaccines, and neutered. Instead of a crate, he uses a playpen as his cozy hangout spot. He does get motion sick, so car rides are best handled with planning, likely medication, and plenty of patience and love.

Benson needs a home where he will be loved, included, and paired with an energetic dog playmate ready to romp and keep up with his fun-loving spirit. A secure fenced yard that works well for a small dog is a must, because Benson loves having a safe place for his little adventures. In return, he promises happy greetings, silly moments, loyal companionship, and the daily reminder that life is better with a schnauzer by your side.  Just a note: Benson is too tiny to be left outside unattended, even in  a fenced yard.
