Hi, I’m Pem (short for Pemaquid – yea, I know. It’s…uh….special). It fits because I am special. I am 7 years old and have a HUGE number of good qualities, so I’m going to tell you about them. But first I’ll tell you about my one quality that gives me all kinds of grief. I am anxious. There it is. I hate to be anxious, and I’m trying to be a perfect little schnauzer. But I need some help and that means I need an owner that is just as special as me - humans who remind me that I am not in charge and that I don’t need to resource guard the house or my favorite person in it. I need special patient humans who will lovingly provide structure and set me up for success. Those special humans will not let me get nippy when someone new comes to visit. And in my new home, if they set up the process like my (super smart) foster parents did, I’ll understand my boundaries and so will our visiting humans! Then everyone is happy.


Speaking of happy….now we can focus on all my impressive qualities! For example, I don’t chew up your stuff – beneath my dignity. Plus, I’d never potty in the house – how uncouth could a schnauzer be!!!??? And I have great leash and crate manners. I can be left alone while you’re at work, and I’ll just patiently wait until you get home. I’m not a barky barky schnauzy. I adore my humans from the tip of my nubby waggy tail to the end of my cute little nose. And I’m content to sit at your feet; my favorite place is wherever you are. You’ll never be lonely because if you get up, I will, too. Wherever you go – I’m there. I won’t dig up your flower bed and I won’t try to escape.


In my new loving home, I must be the only dog. Period. Who needs another dog when you’ve got me!!!!??? I like other dogs ok, but they’ll just complicate things. And kids…. I know some people think they’re cute and all. But they’re just not my thing. Same thing with kitties – they’re not my thing, either. As for all the basics – I’m all good – up to date on vaccines and tests, neutered, and all that. I am good at the vet and I’m accustomed to getting groomed, where I am a very good boy. I’m a great car-rider, too. I am extra smart and easily learn commands. I really like chasing a ball when you throw it.
