Vance2
Vance came to SLR from a backyard breeding situation, where he did not know the affection of humans, and spent all his time outside in a rabbit cage.  He did not have enough food and was very thin.  Fast forward several months to now and he’s a very different dog.

Vance4This sweet and adorable three-year old has gained weight and presents at a healthy 16 lbs.  Vance is neutered and up-to-date on all his vaccinations.  As a salt and pepper Schnorkie (Schnauzer Yorkie mix), he is a cutie from the tops of his floppy natural ears to the tip of his docked tail.  Vance loves all people, and he loves to play with toys and run around in his fenced back yard. Vance needs to be an only dog, and would prefer a home where someone is home sometimes during the day.

Vance3His foster mom says he is learning to walk better on a leash, and is fine when he sees other dogs on his walks.  He’s super friendly to people on his walks, and loves everyone he meets.  Since Vance wasn’t trained as a puppy, he’d benefit from continued training overall.  For example, he is still mouthy like a puppy.  He mouths his human’s hand when he wants attention, and still needs help learning not to do that.  He is house-trained, and needs patient pet parents who will continue to reinforce his potty training.  He’s a good car-rider, and once he’s accustomed to his new home and the new schedule, he can be trusted outside a crate when left home alone.  He’d be fine with older kids, maybe 10 and older.  He needs a home on a quiet street as a precaution - he is a door darter and can’t be relied upon not to bolt.   Vance is a super cuddler, and whenever his human is that is where he wants to be – preferably in your lap if you are sitting.  His foster mom says he’s a special little guy and absolutely delightful.  He is a heart-stealer and ready for his loving, patient forever home.

If you meet all of Vance’s requirements – an only dog home, patient and loving pet parents willing to continue to train him, home on a quiet residential street, and no small children, someone home some during most days, plus at least one loving lap for him to curl up on – please apply and ask for Vance in Tennessee.  www.schnauzerloverescue.net
